Here I am, already wrapping up my first week as the new design intern at Sundog, and the time has absolutely flown by. In the last seven days I have prepared and presented four years worth of design work at my senior show (you can see some of it here), graduated from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, packed up all of my belongings, moved to Fargo, and started this incredible internship at Sundog, of which I am now one week in. I’m actually quite thankful the last seven days have been so hectic, as it gave me very little time to get nervous about starting at Sundog. And now that I’m here, any nerves that I had have been replaced with excitement. I can’t wait to jump right in; to start designing, and to learn all that this company has to offer.
A little more about myself, in list format…
I’m originally from Fargo, but spent the last four years studying graphic design and art at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
I’m the oldest of four children and have been told I hold a lot of the typical ‘oldest child’ traits… Hopefully that’s a good thing.
I ran cross-country and track in high school and continue to run on my own, as it helps me to relax and think. In my last semester at the U I took a marathon training class in which I had to finish the Eau Claire marathon to pass the class. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but I see more marathons in my future 🙂
Ask any of my friends and they’ll tell you about my love for cats (and other animals too, I don’t discriminate.) I have one cat named Avett, named after one of my favorite bands, the Avett Brothers.
I eat popcorn almost every day.
One of the reasons I’m excited to be back in Fargo (besides this awesome internship, of course) is that I can finally rollerblade again. The roads and bike paths weren’t smooth or flat enough for enjoyable rollerblading in the cities.
I love photography. I’ve never been formally trained, but do a lot of messing around with my camera on my own and absolutely love it.
I am an extreme Harry Potter fan. I started reading the books when I was in 2nd grade and have re-read them at least once every year since. (If you’re trying to do the math that means I’ve read the first four books 15 times each.)
I love the smell of coffee, but hate the taste. I’m more of a tea drinker. I’ve been told that I’ll be a coffee drinker by the end of this internship. We’ll see about that…
This is just a small tidbit of my life. Feel free to ask me anything else and I’d be happy to get to know you as well! I can’t wait for the rest of the summer, as I can already tell that the opportunities Sundog has to offer are incredible, as are the people I’ll get the chance to work with.
Here’s to the next three months!
