Website Game Development

by Grant Moe

Let me just say this internship has been amazing. Starting off, I didn’t have a clue what I would be doing and learning over the summer. Now, after a few projects relating to web design, software design, and voice control, I’m fully ready for whatever comes my way.

After brainstorming with my adviser, we talked about making a Sundog-branded website game! I had no idea where to start but apparently there is a nice website called Phaser that I could use to help me build something.

After a few brainstorming sessions, I thought it would be fun to create a Sundog simulator. Some things that I wanted in the game included hiring developers, project managers, and maybe adding office space to already existing space. I quickly learned that was quite a lot for my first ever Phaser game. I quickly realized I would need a more basic understanding about how to use this software for any kind of game to be made.

Taking a big step back, I made a slightly easier goal for myself that didn’t include that isometric look. Just handling one small part of my last idea, the management aspect of developing software, might be a good place to start. So I started making small pixelated squares that you can click on and then access some kind of menu. I haven’t been able to make too much of it yet but I will keep you updated on my progress while I learn!sundoglogo
